Earth Day 2017: Where Food, Art, & Education Converge at the Huerta Del Valle Community Garden featuring mural art by Man One
Huerta Del Valle is a community garden located in Ontario, California about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The organization’s urban farm plot grows over 100 different types of vegetable crops ranging from pantry staples like cherry tomatoes and zucchini to specialty produce including fennel, kohlrabi, edible flowers, and a colorful array of aromatic herbs. Wild sunflowers and poppy flowers decorate the landscape of the property and the picturesque San Bernardino mountains in the distance provide a beautiful backdrop and make it feel like you are in a painting.

Lilly’s French cafe on Abbot Kinney is not the newest restaurant on the block, but you would never know that from first glance. Almost a decade since first opening their doors, they have an updated look showcasing the best of Traditional and Modern architecture, both inside and out as well as a healthy farm-to-table themed menu to match. Lilly’s encompasses both classic and contemporary French Cuisine all packed into a beach-side bistro that takes me back to my time spent on the French Riviera.

Whenever we visit Mission Beach we usually visit this popular breakfast eatery that fronts the Boardwalk at Belmont Park in San Diego. The island hut decor and motif provides the perfect staging area to view the activities beach-side at Mission Beach including surfers, jet skiers and people watching.
John’s Garden-Malibu
A hidden treasure in Malibu is John’s Garden Fresh Health Store. This small jewel features a junior market style setup with all of your favorite nostalgic snacks and healthy options for both food and beverage. At the counter there is an extensive menu written in colored chalk and you can get anything ranging from Smoothies, Salads, Soups and Sandwiches. Every-time I venture out to Malibu I make a stop here because I know I can get a mouthwatering sandwich that is both filling and healthy.
