• TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER X VIVALAFOODIES

We have partnered up with the Together We are Stronger campaign curated by local San Pedro Print House and Art Collective CALIMUCHO

  • Uplifting Noodles

A tiny volcano rests in the middle of Restaurant Row in Beverly Hills. Inside, is Ryu Isobe, a spiritual warrior who practices his culinary craft: soba noodles. He makes sure the humidity in his noodle workstation is adjusted to correct temperatures, the variety of the buckwheat is of the right grind, and the broth is pure.

  • A Paradise in Pasadena

Citrus is the feast’s theme. The clean-tasting Blood Orange Caprese amuse-bouche does what it’s supposed to do, warm the gut up for the first round: a Grapefruit Avocado Tart and a spread of Citrus Cured Salmon with Finger Lime “Caviar.” Brighter than the stuff in between poppyseed bagels and cream cheese, like sashimi, the mild tang is pleasant to be eaten by itself and doesn’t need to be muted by heavy dairy and carbs.

  • CHEF MICHAEL FIORELLI + OLIVETTA= THE PERFECT MATCH

Take the Rye Macaroni (made in-house) with fennel sausage, black kale, and ricotta. Fiorelli’s mom cooked him a similar dish when he was little. “She used boxed orecchiette pasta, went to the butcher for the sausage, put in any vegetables we had around, and mixed it with a little Parmesan cheese and olive oil. A staple in Italian American homes.”

We hope to see everyone there chowing down next to us at the “Moveable Feast.”

A Pre-“Wedding Crashers” Rehearsal Dinner at the W

When it comes to quoting movies, Wedding Crashers seems to “take the cake.” We surveyed a sample of our friends and everyone seemed to quote a different line from the hilarious timeless comedy. And it’s no surprise that our good friend and “Film Freak” Leo Quiniones is bringing this “Raunchy & Sweet Romantic Comedy” to the Outdoor Room at Station Restaurant at the W Hotel in Hollywood for a “Free” screening on August 22, 2011 for Monday Night Movies, Martinis and Manicures, one of his newest LA venues.

EX to the HIBIT “X” invades the Downtown Santa Ana Art Walk

The success of the event sparked so much interest that event producers Seth “Meex” Wilder, Mike “June 22” Ziobrowski and myself, Adam “LA Foodie” Rubenstein from VivaLAfoodies have decided that the foundation and back-bone is strong for many more “X is The Weapon” collaborative events that will “pop up” throughout the Los Angeles area from Venice Beach to Downtown Los Angeles.

Eating our way through “New York” for Cancer Research and the Concern Foundation

As usual we had a blast, but wouldn’t have been able to do it without our great friends in “high places.” Jane Summer from Summer Communications always takes care of us with her good graces and is a marketing force to be reckoned with and she has an extensive portfolio of restaurant clients to back it up. We always get the VIP treatment and we appreciate all of the great invites to the dinners and events that her team produces.

X Is The Weapon presents “EXHIBIT X”, a group exhibition showcasing the intersection of Art, Music, Food and Film for Japan Relief

Artists, Musician & Foodie’s unite once again, but this time we are slightly outside of Los Angeles City Limits in the OC and will be supporting Japan Relief efforts while mashing up Food x Art x Lifestyle x Music x Culture.

Please also join Viva LA Foodies & The Love Alone’s “MEEXONE” for our official collaborative “LA FOODIE” Tee Shirt Launch Party inside the Art Show, in conjunction with a “Live Printing Station” provided courtesy of our friends at Inked In Tees.

A Luau in Los Angeles that embraced the “Mahalo” spirit of the Hawaiian Islands

The splendor, mystique, romance and island spirit seem to never go away from our memories and you can agree especially if you have been to the Islands on one or more occasions. My last visit was over 2 years ago and being at the event made it feel like just yesterday. The Hawaiian culture and lifestyle is magical and is something that everyone must experience and appreciate at least once in their life. All good things must come to an end at sometime or another and we owe a big congratulations to Chef Mark Gold for taking home the title of the “Hawaiian Islands Master Chef.”

Leaning Sideways at Viva Vino LA

With more than 200 Italian wines from its various wine producing regions including Campania, Friuli, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto there was a varietal for everyone and the event itself felt more like Willy wonka at the Winery, a stark contrast from other wine events of years past.
Exclusive partnerships with Blue Lifestyle, the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce , West, North American Sommelier Association and the Italian Sommelier Association joined forces to bring out the best vendor representation for the evening showcasing Italian culture with local artisan food, wine and music. The ultimate goal for Viva Vino LA was to demonstrate a sampling of the over 3000 varietals and encourage the support of Italy’s wine country from local wine and spirit aficionados. Several of LA’s top restaurants also hosted various wine dinners and special pouring events throughout the week.

Turn on your Heartlight for Japan
