A TASTE OF MEXICO: THE ART OF MOLE

Saturday, June 2, 2012

LOS ANGELES, CA – On June 2nd, Six Taste and the Los Angeles Contemporary Museum of Arts (LACMA) are partnering up to highlight two of Los Angeles’ best mole restaurants and its connection to LACMA’s newest exhibit: Children of the Plumed Serpent: The Legacy of Quetzalcoatl in Ancient Mexico. Food plays an essential role in this exhibit; LACMA and Six Taste will be taking guests on an exploration of the ancient Mexican culture through the lens of food.  The day begins with an exclusive curator-led tour of the exhibition and will continue with mole tastings at two renowned local restaurants as well as a mezcal tasting at Guelaguetza.

Tucked into parts of East Los Angeles lies some of the most ambitious restaurants you may not have heard of. Guelaguetza and Moles La Tia serve up one of the most complex sauces ever to be created. Traditionally, mole utilizes more than 20 separate ingredients and requires a master to balance the several types of chiles, sugars, and spices to make a perfect combination. Moles La Tia  serves up the biggest selection of unique moles, from Poblano mole to passion fruit, pistachio and almond moles. At Guelaguetza, guests will be treated to a Oaxacan mole and mezcal tasting.

Six Taste has partnered with other notable companies to create customizable and innovative privates tours and events. Six Taste can customize a tour in most areas of Los Angeles, or choose an itinerary from one of their already established tours. From corporate events to special occasions and schools to private clubs, they can develop a tour or food exploration event that suits the needs, preferences and budgets of any group.
