Cuisses de Grenouille (frog legs) a classical French tasting experience at Taix

Waiters and bussers who have been working for the Taix family for many years say everything is great on the menu (which it is), but their eyes light up when someone orders the Cuisses de Grenouille (frog legs). They smile when they bring an entrée sized pile of anywhere between 6-10 pieces of the ribbit ribbit to the table. The sizzle and smell of melted butter mixed with tomatoes, capers, garlic, and parsley interrupt the conversation. The glossy, light golden brown breading sticks to the skin. The dish sees itself to the center as if it were the grand centerpiece. Trigger happy fingers quiver to snap a pic.

Experience a Taste of THE FEDERAL, and GET FED during DINE LA’s “Summer Road-trip” 2017

The best burger in Los Angeles is served at The Federal Bar. It’s true. A person doesn’t need to be a burger aficionado or know every single quick and sit down place that serves them. Their teeth sink into this sucker and they know. It’s almost religious like.

Bastille Day can be Celebrated all month long during Dine LA’ Summer Roadtrip at Taix French Restaurant

If the bar is the place to relax, the dining room is the place to let the pants down a little and recline. Taix keeps the French customs of truly enjoying a meal. The sense of rush is nonexistent. Waiters and bussers know the menu and restaurant inside out. It’s as if the whole staff has equity in the place. Because of the celebration of Bastille Day, Taix put their bouillabaisse on the menu. Everything else sounded equally scrumptious from their duck l’orange to their paella, but there’s something about eating a poor man’s fish stew on French National Day. It’s like eating a steak or hot dog on the 4th of July.

Experience a taste of Firefly during Dine LA’s “Summer Road Trip” from July 14-28th

Chef Pollaci, from Cutthroat Kitchen fame, serves up a pretty mean menu, especially for Dine LA, a two-week period where several Los Angeles restaurants give many the opportunity to experience the city’s diverse food landscape with prix fixe meals for a fraction of their normal prices.

Vagabond Cheese Company & Boomtown Brewery Collaborative Cheese & Beer Pairing

Boomtown is a large and in-charge brewing facility and event center in what seems to be a soon-to-be gentrified part of DTLA neighboring the 101 freeway and Los Angeles River. Different portraits of Ziggy Stardust greet you as well as paintings of sexy women in see-through clothing. Inside, the custom artwork continues with a behemoth gold owl mural. Community tables sit adjacent from the bar pouring beers with some of the most creative titles ever put on lagers, ales, and Goses.

Enjoying Los Angeles one bite at a time at The Food Event

By the end of the day we had consumed enough food and drink to satisfy a small army. We also managed to have a nice tweet-up with the dineLA crew that included dineLA director Stacey Sun along with her entourage from Discover Los Angeles and Thirsty in LA. The day would’nt have been complete without a toast and a hug from our good friend “The Bikini Chef” Susan Irby and a few of our other foodie friends in the crowd that we ran into. Cheers to another great year of Food & Lifestyle events.
