The Los Angeles Food Bowl is back this May.

The Food Bowl is back. People dressed to the nines at 10:30 in the morning on a Tuesday to attend the kick off party. The raw energy filled with eager anticipation reminded me of a large crowd awaiting Bruno Mars to take the stage at one of his concerts. The event was held at Otium, a posh place next to The Broad in DTLA. The stars of the event were CEO and publish of the LA Times, Ross Levinsohn, and their award-winning food critic, Jonathan Gold. Chef Wes Avilla of Guerilla Tacos served his cauliflower tacos, a subtle preview of what to be expected at this years 31 day event: a food festival that puts all other food festivals to shame.

A Prelude to ChefDance (Inviting Great) 2018 at Sundance from Hollywood

ChefDance, a private VIP dinner series “Pop-Up,” began in 2004 at Sundance Film Festival by Mimi Kim, a finance investor from Los Angeles with an extensive and impressive resume. Her aspiration was to combine the creativity and talent of the films with unique chefs and menus to complement the Sundance experience.

Vagabond Cheese Company & Boomtown Brewery Collaborative Cheese & Beer Pairing

Boomtown is a large and in-charge brewing facility and event center in what seems to be a soon-to-be gentrified part of DTLA neighboring the 101 freeway and Los Angeles River. Different portraits of Ziggy Stardust greet you as well as paintings of sexy women in see-through clothing. Inside, the custom artwork continues with a behemoth gold owl mural. Community tables sit adjacent from the bar pouring beers with some of the most creative titles ever put on lagers, ales, and Goses.

Luckily, Viva LA Foodies, will be covering Boomtown Brewery’s first ever Beer and Cheese pairing on Wednesday, August 2 that is not only going to school us and our knowledge, but provide an opportunity for all of Los Angeles to see how they are the ultimate couple.

The 2017 “Masters of Taste” received an Outpouring of Support

The 2nd Annual Masters of Taste event received an outpouring of support from the local foodie community despite the unexpected May shower downpours throughout the day. The luxury food and beverage festival took over the grassy field of the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium this past Sunday, May 7th, 2017 where a 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships went directly to Union Station Homeless Services!

Phil Rosenthal, an overly animated Jewish American, who created Everybody Loves Raymond, swapped stories with Chef Ludo Febvre, an objective Frenchman, who created Trois Mec. Veteran food writer, Dr. Lara Rabinovitch dished out the questions and with the help of an audience of over 200 observed the biggest commonality between the two men: their passions for food.

Today’s society is primarily focused on the pictures of food which is the last thing on a chef’s mind. Niki also supported Magnus by saying that all of the chefs on the panel besides her (Massimo Bottura of Osteria Franciscan and acclaimed LA Times Food Bowl, Best New Restaurant first annual award recipient Roy Choi of (LOCOL, Kogi, The Line Hotel, POT, Commissary, Chego, A-Frame, Sunny Spot et:al ), believe that they are artisans not artists.

Earth Day 2017: Where Food, Art, & Education Converge at the Huerta Del Valle Community Garden featuring mural art by Man One

Huerta Del Valle is a community garden located in Ontario, California about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The organization’s urban farm plot grows over 100 different types of vegetable crops ranging from pantry staples like cherry tomatoes and zucchini to specialty produce including fennel, kohlrabi, edible flowers, and a colorful array of aromatic herbs. Wild sunflowers and poppy flowers decorate the landscape of the property and the picturesque San Bernardino mountains in the distance provide a beautiful backdrop and make it feel like you are in a painting.

The annual Fundraiser from the Venice Art Crawl organization was a Pop-Up Art Event uniquely set in the ever expanding Silicon Beach venue of The Runway at Playa Vista, an outdoor entertainment destination in the likeness of The Grove and 3rd Sreet in Santa Monica. The art show took place in a vacant storefront space in a great position adjacent to the newly opened Hal’s Bar & Grill, Playa Vista location and brings the vibes of their current Venice location due South to the ever expanding Silicon Beach.
